Notice of press release for
“Kori-tofu ameliorates obesity and fatty liver”
Asahimatsu Foods Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Osaka City and Iida City, CEO:
Hirotaka Kinoshita) and Shinshu University (Professor Naoki Tanaka), about
the details of the joint research, at the general meeting of the Federation of
Kori-Tofu Industrial Association, to which Asahimatsu Foods belongs. It will
be announced at the association invites external lecturers, so far. They have
presented the health functionality of Kori-tofu (cholesterol lowering and
diabetes improvement effect) and the reason why Kori-tofu contains a large
amount of resistant protein, which is considered to be a factor. This year, we
have invited Dr. Naoki Tanaka of Shinshu University School of Medicine to
give a lecture on the latest topics as follows.

The animal experiment has shown that the intake of Kori-tofu or the
resistant protein contained increases the expression of genes that work to
burn fat stored in the body. And production of a substance called azelaic acid
by intestinal bacteria was observed. We concluded that these effects are
part of the mechanisms that prevent and improve obesity and fatty liver
when Kori-tofu and resistant protein are ingested.
